So Close, the Smell of Diesel

What an excellent idea.

I will post my daily writings here, pictures too. I am writing my daily journals as individual stories that will be ran weekly throughout the upcoming fall semester in The Preface for other students to get some sort of an understanding of a trip of this nature. Its energies, its momentum, and its impact- on the group and the internal. I am trying to acquire The Preface’s camera as well for a daily photo to go with each one.

The weather has me burning for the road. I find I’m actually grateful for winter suppressing this in me until just now, until just before. There is something that I found to affect me when traveling, being without a nightly place called ‘home’ where I can dismiss the day, get right back into me. I can hardly wait.

Katie J drops a line

Hi, I had to set up a blogger account for an education class never thought I would use it again but now I'm kind of glad haha. I know that we don't have to read the whole John Lewis book but last night I got to the part where he went on the Freedom Rides and I can't put it down. It was 2 a.m before I realized it. Oh and By the way I got the transcript done for Mr. Maxwell of the April 25th interview. It took me all day yesterday but it was a productive day. The trip is only 10 or so days away. I'm getting really excited.

Dr. T checks in

Hi,
I'm looking forward to this method of communication. You can post your journal entries here or keep them private in a notebook. You can just shout out in the blog. Hello world!

If you're interested, Terry Gross, M.C. of the National Public Radio program Fresh Air, interviewed Raymond Arsenault, author of Get on the Bus: The Freedom Riders of 1961. To listen to the entire show, go to:

I've recorded the show. If anyone wants a CD of it let me know
